Theodoropoulos Vangelis – acting/ improv

He was born in Athens in 1953. He graduated from the drama school of the Athens Conservatory. His productions have been staged at the National Theatre, KTHBE, Athens Concert Hall, DIPETHE and the free theater. In 1995, he presented with the New Art Theater, founded on his own initiative, Filonikia of Marivo. Neos Kosmos’ Theatre, the now permanent home of the troupe, started in 1997 with Ella Papadimitriou’s Koinos Logos under his own direction. Since then, he has directed there over 60 works from the classical and mainly from the contemporary repertoire. He has also repeatedly presented works of ancient drama in Epidaurus and Herodeion. Performances of the Neos Kosmos’ Theatre tour every year in winter and summer in Greece and abroad. He created the Solidarity Theater for children in 2002, which gave performances in hospitals, institutions and solidarity structures until 2020, when it stopped due to a pandemic.

In 2011 he was honored with the “Fotos Politis” award for his contribution to the theater in the two years 2008-2010. He has also been repeatedly honored with the Athenaroma Audience awards.

He has taught acting at the drama school of the National Theater and at the Delos drama school.

Between 2016-2019 he was the artistic director of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival.
